was born in 1981 in Sofia. A graduate from the First English Language School in Sofia, Angel has a BA degree in English Philology and a MA in Literature Studies from Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski. He is a PhD student in West European Literature at the same university. In 2003 he studied at Roehampton University in London. He is the author of two collections of short stories: Sreshti na putia ( Meetings on the road) (2002) and К. (2006). The first collection won the Grand prize for a prose debut at the national competition Iuzhna prolet (Southern Spring) in 2003. The second collection was nominated for the Elias Kaneti prize in 2007. Angel has won prizes for prose in the Rashko Sugarev competition and for literary criticism in the Boyan Penev competition. He works as a literary observer in 5 on Richter culture broadcast on TV7 (since 2005) and for Cultura newspaper (2006-08). He regularly publishes his works in Literaturen vestnik ( Literary Newspaper), Кapital Light, Altera, Sega, Manager, 1 Sedmitsa v Sofia( A Week in Sofia), and others. He was also a host on Vsiaka Subota ( Every Saturday) culture broadcast on Net radio (2004-05). Angel was a judge for the novel of the year competition Vik ( Shout) in 2007 and for the poetry book of the year competition Ivan Nikolov in 2009. He has translated into Bulgarian a novel of each of the following authors: Paul Auster, Martin Amis, Douglas Kennedy and Ian McEwan. His short stories are translated in French, Hungarian, Serbian and Croatian. Angel is a co-founding member of the National Council of ZELENITE (The Green) political party.
was born in 1969 and represents Latvia’s youngest generation of writers. Her first book, Parhaksana (Homecoming, 1992) is a literary and historical exploration of the life of Latvian writer and diplomat Anna Rumane-Kenina. She has published two collections of short stories, Nieki un Izprecias (Trifles and Pleasures, 1995) and Maldigas romances (Misleading Romances, 1997) and is working on a biography of the Latvian émigré Brunis Rubess. She works as editor at the literary magazine Kargos and lives outside Riga.
was born in Athens and studied Chemistry at the University of Thessaloniki, and Fine Arts at Guildhall University in London. Her first book of poetry entitled Mister T. (Melani, 2007) won the "prize for new author" of the literary journal Diavazo. Asylumis her second book of poetry (Melani, 2008). She is a member of the arts collective intothepill (www.intothepill.net). In 2007, as a parallel project of the first Athens Biennial, intothepill organised and presented Karaoke Poetry Bar, a multimodal installation with poetry, video and performance. She was the editor of the bilingual (Greek/English) anthology of contemporary Greek poetry Poetry Karaoke which was published as part of the project. She has edited and translated into Greek the poetry of Sylvia Plath (Kedros, 2003) and has also translated poetry by Mina Loy, Ted Hughes, Robert Hass, for the journals Poiisi, Poiitiki and the e-zine poema.gr. She is currently working on an anthology of Ted Hughes’ poetry due to be published in 2010. She is the editor of poetryboxin the e-zine www.happyfew.gr .She is also a member of Greek Poetry Now a poet’s collective which organises regular discussions and readings investigating aspects of contemporary poetry.
(1970 Skopje, Macedonia) is a poet and prose writer. He holds a BA in World and Comparative Literature from Sts. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje and MA in Gender and Culture, CEU, Budapest. He has worked as radio & TV show host for various stations in Macedonia, and as a web designer and e‐publishing consultant. He is founder and director of the Cultural Institution Blesok and works as its editor‐in‐chief and webmaster.
