Lesser-Known Literatures of Europe at Vilenica

3rd - 7th September
Vilenica and Ljubljana, Slovenia

In our third year of collaboration with the Slovenian Writers’ Association – organisers of the Vilenica International Literary Festival, LAF is helping to put some of Europe’s lesser-known literary talent in the spotlight.

This year’s focus is on contemporary Lithuanian writing. LAF, Books from Lithuania and the Embassy of Lithuania in Ljubljana will be presenting Lithuanian writers Eugenijus Ališanka, Birutė Jonuškaitė, Sigitas Parulskis, Kornelijus Platelis and Tomas Venclova in a round-table discussion moderated by Marko Sosič, followed by readings and some Lithuanian Jazz on Friday the 5th of September. The publication of the third volume in the Vilenica Anthologies Series, Artuma: Contemporary Lithuanian Literature will be celebrated at the festival, alongside a number of recent translations of Lithuanian literature into Slovenian.
The 23rd Vilenica International Literary Festival will host more than 60 authors, academics, editors and publishers and will be held in venues across Slovenia, including an award ceremony at the Vilenica cave itself. For more details visit www.vilenica.si.
