Six Polish Poets - Tour
22nd - 26th October
Dublin, Manchester, Crewe, Bangor, London
Six Polish Poets edited by Jacek Dehnel, published by Arc Publications, will be launched during a UK and Ireland tour with Agnieszka Kuciak and Tomasz Różycki. The tour is organised by Literature Across Frontiers in cooperation with the Polish Book Institute, the Polish Cultural Institute in London and Polish Embassy in Dublin.
The poets in this anthology belong to a generation which started publishing in the last decade and which stands in opposition to the literary product of the freedom brought by the fall of communism in Poland. Against the highly individualist writing let loose by the removal of censorship, with its aesthetic of stylistic brutality personified by the anarchic artist-outsider uninterested in ethical, social or political questions, the generation presented here re-examines and experiments with traditional poetic forms, themes and cultural references in a refined, witty dialogue with the reader. Meanwhile the collection never forgets that a poem should move above all; revealing what makes us most human. More information is available at www.arcpublications.co.uk
