Orhan Pamuk's 2006 Nobel Prize and the 2008 Frankfurt focus put contemporary Turkish literature in the spotlight in Europe and around the world. What is the position of Turkish literature today and how is it received? Panel debate with translators of Turkish literature, moderated by Müge Sokmen (Turkey). With Maureen Freely (UK), Tuula Kojo (Finland), Petr Kučera (Czech Republic), Hanneke van der Heijden (Holland) and Wolfgang Riemann (Germany).

 

After the debate join us for a drink at the Translators' Centre Cafe to celebrate the launch of the Turkish issues of the internet literary reviews Transcript and  Words Without Borders.
