Ryan Van Winkle

Ryan Van Winkle is Poet in Residence at Edinburgh City Libraries following a successful run as the Scottish Poetry Library’s first-ever Reader in Residence. He has interviewed hundreds of poets for the SPL’s poetry podcast and is the host of a new programme called “Multi-coloured Culture Laser”. He runs the internationally infamous literary cabaret “The Golden Hour” and has been invited to perform to audiences all over the world, including at The Melbourne Writer’s Festival, Beirut, The Edinburgh International Book Festival, The Sofia Poetics Festival in Bulgaria, Shakespeare and Company (Paris) and Tacheles (Berlin). His critically-praised first collection, Tomorrow, We Will Live Here, was published by Salt in 2010 and won the prestigious Crashaw Prize. The Glasgow Review said: ‘this collection seems to be at the forefront of a shift to something new, it is on the way to a perfection of some new movement.’ His poems have appeared in New Writing Scotland, The American Poetry Review, AGNI, Poetry New Zealand and The Oxford Poets series. In 2012 Ryan was awarded the Robert Louis Stevenson Fellowship.
