Literary Europe Live was an initiative launched with support from the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union that brought together literary festivals and venues from around Europe to encourage programming that reflects the richness and diversity of the European literary landscape, highlight the work of outstanding emerging literary talent and develop live and digital audiences for writing that crosses national and linguistic borders. We cooperated with a range of partners on presenting European writing to audiences across Europe and beyond and to give professionals working in the field of literature international opportunities to develop their approaches to programming.

The project has seen numerous events organised in our partners’ countries as well as overseas in China and India. With Literary Europe Live we continuing what making literature travel and reaching new audiences, as well as supporting emerging writers, something we had been successfully doing with earlier projects. Our partners — from prominent large festivals to smaller grassroots ones — have been sharing their expertise, and learning from one another about the ingredients of successful pan-European programming and audience development.
