Mercator Institute for Media, Languages and Culture

Literature Across Frontiers is based at the Mercator Institute for Media, Languages and Culture is based at the Department of Theatre, Film and Television Studies at Aberystwyth University, Wales, UK. For over twenty years it has co-ordinated and led EU-funded research and network projects in the field of linguistic exchange and the cultural industries. It is also home to Wales Literature Exchange and the Minority Language Media Research Network (through the Mercator Network). It has an overall staff of thirteen, who between them have a working knowledge of some 15 languages. www.aber.ac.uk/mercator/

The Culture Programme of the European Union supports projects and initiatives that celebrate Europe’s cultural diversity and enhance our shared cultural heritage through the development of cross-border co-operation between cultural operators and institutions. The Culture programme aims to achieve three main objectives: to promote cross-border mobility of those working in the cultural sector; to encourage the transnational circulation of cultural and artistic output; and to foster intercultural dialogue.
