Making Literature Travel

Caernarfon’s Gŵyl Arall festival was the venue for the first event in our Counterpoint programme this year where poets from Croatia and Wales exchanged and explored perspectives on migration. Nici Beech introduced the two poets at Llety Arall.

Marija Dejanović was born in Bosnia and Herzegovina, grew up in Croatia, Sisak, and currently lives between Zagreb, Croatia, and Larissa, Greece. She has published three volumes of award winning poetry and is a critically acclaimed scriptwriter, critic, and feminist. For her visit to Gŵyl Arall she collaborated with local poet Lowri Hedd Vaughan from Ynys Môn. Lowri is passionate about the prosperity of nature, exploring complexity, celebrating diversity, caring, mischief and talking. Her work has been published in The Stamp Anthology, by Pontio and digital magazine Cwmpas – Celf ar y Cyd and this August, Lowri will be Radio Cymru’s poet of the month .
