Malta Mediterranean Literature Festival 2013
The 8th edition of the Malta Mediterranean Literature Festival takes place this August at the Msida Bastion Historic Garden, in Floriana. This year’s participating writers include Angela Bonanno (Sicily), Tsead Bruinja (Netherlands), Maria Grech Ganado (Malta), Khaled Khalifa (Syria), Mazen Maarouf (Palestine), Nikola Madzirov (Macedonia, FYROM), Immanuel Mifsud (Malta), Denisa Mirena Piscu (Romania), Monique Roffey (UK), Karl Schembri (Malta/Gaza), and Fahredin Shehu (Kosovo).
The writers will be in Malta throughout the last week of August to take part in the LAF/Inizjamed Malta Literary Translation Workshop. They will be translating each other’s works into their languages and then reading some of these translations at the festival.
Alongside the literary events there will also be an art installation and music. Entrance to all the events is free.
The festival and literary translation workshop are a co-operation between LAF and Inizjamed Malta. The 2013 edition of the Malta Mediterranean Literature Festival and LAF workshop are supported by Din l-Art Ħelwa, the British Council, Middlesea Insurance, FILI – Finnish Literature Exchange, the European Commission Representation in Malta, and the Culture Programme Success Scheme run by the Cultural Contact Point of Malta.
