Poets Golan Haji and Noor Kanj at the Berlin Poesiefestival 2019

Poets Golan Haji and Noor Kanj participated in a poetry translation workshop at the Poesiefestival Berlin 2019 with German poets Sandra Burkhardt and Sonja vom Brocke, coordinated by Kenan Khadaj. They explored each other’s work through trans;saiton into German and Arabic, and spoke about their experience of the workshop and read their work at the in an event moderated by Christian Fillips. Recordings of twenty-two poems with translations by the participating poets are available on the lyrikline.org site managed by the festival organiser Haus fur Poesie. The website is a remarkable international poetry resource with recordings and translations of the work of over 1500 poets with original work and translations in 88 languages.

Both poets are Syrian and have been living in Europe. Haji, a Syrian Kurd, lives in Paris and Kanj in Berlin.
