World KidLit: Diversity in Publishing Children’s Books

Whether translating works from around the world into English or bringing together writers and artists from different backgrounds to create original multicultural projects or promoting multilingual books, the panelists will share their experiences in publishing books that celebrate the diverse world we live in and the diverse readers who inhabit it. From selecting titles and topics, to marketing their books through complementary activities that reflect the multilingual nature of UK’s society, the session will explore the wider context of publishing books for young readers today.
Chair: Lawrence Schimel (writer, translator, publisher) Speakers: Delaram Ghanimifard (publisher, Tiny Owl), Alice Curry (publisher, Lantana), Greet Pauwelijn (translator, publisher, Book Island), Ruth Ahmedzai Kemp (translator, diversity advocate)
