Zagreb Reads Europe: DBC Pierre and Chika Unigwe

The programme Zagreb Reads Europe, conducted by the association Kulturtreger (that runs the book club Booksa) in collaboration with the Festival of European Short Story and Literature Across Frontiers, will present two acclaimed international writers to the Zagreb audience.
On Monday, 29 May at 6pm, Booksa Book Club will host DBC Pierre, the Man Booker winner celebrated for his satire and ironic criticism of the modern society. DBC Pierre will talk about the link between literature and politics, ethics of writing and “sanctity” of the writing process.
On Tuesday 30 May at 6 pm, Booksa will present Chika Unigwe, the US-based Nigerian and Belgian writer. Unigwe will discuss multilingual writing, the hegemony of English and its colonial background in the literary field, Western academic approaches to creative writing and challenges that Igbo language women writers face when addressing patriarchy in their literature.
Zagreb Reads Europe takes place during the Festival of European Short Story and it is a part of our project Literary Europe Live.
