Olja Savičević
Olja Savičević (born in 1974 in Split, Croatia) read Linguistics and Literary Criticism at the University of Zadar. She has published several poetry books, short stories and novels and works as a literary critic and publisher. Her book of stories, August Snow, was named best book of the year by the newspaper Vijenac and the publisher AGM. The book was shortlisted for the Kiklop Prose Prize and the Prize for Literature Jutarnji. For her story “The Hero” she received the prestigious Marinković Prize for short prose. In spring 2011, her first novel Adio, kauboju (Farewell, Cowboys), published in 2010 in Croatia, appeared in German, published by Voland & Quist.
Istros Books will be publishing “Farewell, Cowboys” in English translation in 2015, to be translated by Celia Hawkesworth.
