Baltic Centre for Writers and Translators
Baltic Centre for Writers and Translators was established in 1993 and since 1996 the Centre has been under the auspices of UNESCO. BCWT stimulates literary and cultural contacts between the countries in the Baltic Sea region, providing a space for literary professionals to work and meet and organising seminars and other projects, including an annual poetry festival.
BCWT is also a part of the international network of European translators´centres. The supporting organisation (since 1994) of the BCWT is the Baltic Writers´ Council. BCWT is a non-profit organisation. Members of the BCWT are the Swedish Writers´ Union, the County Administration of Gotland and the Municipality of Gotland. The centre is financed mainly by the Swedish Arts Council and the Gotland Municipality.
