Icelandic Literature Fund

The Icelandic Literature Fund (Bókmenntasjóður) was founded in 2007 and took over the roles of 3 previous funds. The role of the ILF is to fortify Icelandic literature and publishing: to subsidise the publication of works written in Icelandic as well as translations into Icelandic, to promote Icelandic literature at home and abroad and participate in other projects.

The fund grants translation subsidies to foreign publishers outside the Nordic countries. They also issue travel grants for Icelandic authors travelling abroad to promote their work, for which festivals, publishers, writers and organisations can apply.
