Slovenské centrum pre umelecký preklad (SCUP, The Slovak Centre for Literary Translation) has the main purpose of providing a focus for literary translation activities in Slovakia and to complement the activities of other translation centres which have been established in Europe since the late 1970s (Germany, France, Great Britain, Greece, Holland, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Sweden). SCUP was the first centre of its kind founded in Central and Eastern Europe.
