Bologna Children’s Book Fair

Since 1964 the Bologna Children’s Book Fair is the most important international get-together for professionals involved in children’s publishing.

With a distinguished focus on copyright exchange, each year publishers, literary agents, authors, illustrators, editors, translators, librarians, booksellers meet in Bologna to enjoy the best in children’s books and digital products, thus making the Bologna Fair the hub of the cultural debate. The Fair also issues prizes for the best children’s literature from around the world.

Göteborg Book Fair

Göteborg Book Fair is the biggest meeting place for the book trade in the Nordic countries. The first Fair was held in 1985 and had 5,000 visitors. Since then, it has grown year after year and in 2008 no fewer than 101,000 visits were registered during the four days.

London Book Fair

The London Book Fair is the global marketplace for rights negotiation and the sale and distribution of content across print, audio, TV, film and digital channels. The London Book Fair is held annually in the spring at Earls Court exhibition centre, London. It has hosted the Literary Translation Centre series of talks and workshops since 2010 – organised by a consortium of organisations of which Literature Across Frontiers is a founding partner.

Pula Book Fair

Established after the Balkan wars in the historic town of Pula, this book fair has became one of the most important gathering for books and authors in Croatia.  Every year the Book Fair presents more than 300 publishers from Croatia and the region and is visited by approximately 60,000 book-lovers. It has more than 80 events (presentations of books and authors, professional gatherings, round tables, performance etc), and more than 200 authors participate. Today it is the biggest festival of writers in Southeast Europe.

Sharjah International Book Fair

Held in the U.A.E in November every year, the Sharjah International Book Fair is a 10-day annual event drawing over 800 publishers showcasing books from nearly 42 nations. It attracts over 400,000 visitors and also runs a series of awards and prizes for books and publishers from the region.

Svet Knihy – Prague Book Fair

Book World (Svet knihy) is owned by the Association of Czech Booksellers and Publishers and organises the Prague International Book Fair and Literary Festival which features some 30-50 foreign authors every year in a four-day programme. Book World also organises national stands of the Czech Republic at international book fairs abroad and the programme promoting Czech literature and authors. Website available in English or Czech.

The LIBER International Book Fair, Madrid

The LIBER International Book Fair is an event for publishing sector professionals: writers, librarians, distributors, bookshop owners, literary agents and editors.
